So, I undocked in low sec and got attacked, and I proceeded to fire back. I have a 2.0 sec status, the aggressor had -8.0. I figured, hey, this guy is wanted by the law, he is fair game. So, I get an aggression timer, for self defense? A couple buddies of his show up and proceed to warp scramble me and pound my ship to pieces. I try and re-dock and... it says I can't "due to initiating aggression". What? WTF I'm getting ganked by pirates and a civilian CALDARI corporation (which I have high standing with) won't let me dock? I just learned about the aggression timer... and the lesson cost me a rather nicely fitted Nighhawk and maxed out implants. OOPS! I guess it happens. I'm not bitter about having gotten pwned up rather nicely. But, bear with me, the only thing I've been doing in Eve (for the most part) is "care bearing it up" or "mission running". What I'd like is for CCP to cut me some slack an add the simple "idiot proof solution" described below:
What sucks A LOT is I did not get ANY notification such as "you're going to get a really crappy aggression timer, which will prevent you from docking, if you choose to attack this guy WHETHER YOU DO IT IN SELF DEFENSE OR NOT DOES NOT MATTER". Seriously, where is the bloody "are you sure" and the "are you really sure" notification?
I should have just bought those bandit tags off the market instead of dealing with a game mechanic that has not been completely refined to perfection yet. I know I might get flamed for this statement, but I just pointed out an obvious oversight that should have been included. Please, don't let other PvP noobs learn the hard way, add A YES/NO CONFIRMATION LETTING ME KNOW THERE WILL BE A BLOODY AGGRESSION TIMER PREVENTING ME FROM DOCKING IF I ATTACK THIS GUY!!!! Its not a "whine" its a suggestion to improve a game mechanic. Caldari Nationalist Party |

Did you realy need to open 2 threads for this?? and if this is suppost to be a suggestion its in the wrong forum thread.
Done. Posted there. I believe it is necessary to post this as the implementation of this simple feature would potentially prevent unnecessary frustration to players who are new or who have not had a chance to experience the dynamic nature of PvP in Eve Online, and are thus unaware of certain game mechanics. It will assist with the learning curve. Where is the bad thing in that?

Well, I know you don't need it, because you already KNOW about it, but someone else does, like the new guy who's defending himself/herself from a pirate and DOES NOT know that he will be unable to dock if he chooses to defend himself. Its not all about you, you know?

wait wait wait, how the **** have you been playing this long and NOT know about the aggression timer? you git
I've been playing off and on for a long time, but with MANY MANY months in between. Back in 2003 I don't remember this feature being mentioned AT ALL by anyone. I didn't know because I didn't really PvP or anything of that sort. I really thought that you wouldn't get any "kill rights" or "aggression timer" if the player has low sec, OR if you're simply defending yourself (as in, you did not fire the first shot). :)

Originally by: Terianna Eri There is such a confirmation window. If you try to shoot an illegal (non-flashy, non-WT) target in highsec or lowsec, you get a popup box asking you if you want to continue with the illegal action when, say, you start firing on something.
Was that insufficient?
That's just the thing I didn't get one this time, so I figured it was legal to return fire.
